Aislingí na Rossan, Heidi Nguyen 2006
Heidi's paintings are meditations that capture the essence and spirit of a 'place'. These works are fluid, minimal and bold meteorological and metaphorical mappings of our land, climate and spirit. Because the artist makes her work in situ, the wind, blown debris and the rain all become part of the work. This approach allows her to get as close as possible to the canvas if not beyond it, to an uninhabited place, where the painting dictates the dialogue. The artist describes this dialogue as a vibration - to be able to receive this vibration and then record it is an act of quiet courage.
