Heidi Nguyen was born and raised in Paris. Having completed Art College Heidi spent ten years working as an illustrator and graphic designer. She moved to Dublin in 1996 and finally eight years ago Heidi moved to rural Marameelan, Dungloe and set up her studio. She has practiced continually since this time and has exhibited regularly over the years. Her works are part of numerous private and public collections and she was awarded the Derek Hill Art Prize in the Glebe Gallery Competition. Heidi was a participant in the successful Artist Trail as part of the Errigail Arts Festival 2005 and will do so again this year.

Heidi's paintings are meditations that capture the essence and spirit of a 'place'. These works are fluid, minimal and bold meteorological and metaphorical mappings of our land, climate and spirit. Because the artist makes her work in situ, the wind, blown debris and the rain all become part of the work. This approach allows her to get as close as possible to the canvas if not beyond it, to an uninhabited place, where the painting dictates the dialogue. The artist describes this dialogue as a vibration - to be able to receive this vibration and then record it is an act of quiet courage.
